The Midwich Cuckoos

A mysterious phenomenon renders the inhabitants of a small English town unconscious. When the town awakes, every woman of child-bearing age has suddenly and inexplicably fallen pregnant.

Gifted child psychotherapist Dr Susannah Zellaby helps support those affected. But her own daughter Cassie is among them, and Susannah can’t help but feel grave concerns over who, or what, these children really are.

Meanwhile local officer DCI Paul Haynes is tasked with maintaining order on behalf of shadowy government officials, all the while negotiating his own personal and very private stake in the mission.

Unbeknownst to them all however, a powerful force is building in the wombs of these women. As Susannah searches for answers, and the community comes to accept these curious children as their own, they blindly hurtle towards a primal reckoning that threatens not just the future of Midwich, but the future of humanity as we know it.
